JAMMU, July 25: The 3rd UT level Yoga Championship, organised by the Yoga Association of Jammu and Kashmir, concluded at New Indoor Complex MA Stadium, here today.
About 200 boys and girls from Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts participated in the championship.
Jammu Municipal Corporation Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta was the chief guest, while Jagadish Langer was the guest of honour. They presented mementoes, medals and certificates to winners in presence of Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, Ashwani Kotach, Vikas Gupta, Dr Sanjeev Goswami, Anu Gupta, Dr Ranjana Verma, Veena Chib, Rajesh Sharma, Sudesh Kumar and Aryaaveer Singh.
The Mayor appreciated the efforts of the Association and said that Yoga is gaining importance all over the world and every individual practices the same to keep themselves physically fit, mentally alert, socially sound and spiritually pious.
In girls category, Shahnaz Choudhary, Madhu Mani and Atharva Rajput won first three medals respectively in 8 to 10 year, category, while Pratima Sharma, Sadhya Sharma and Priyanshu Sharma won the top three medals in 10 to 12 year and Samriti Thakur, Nazrana and Tania Isher clinched first three medals in 12 to 14 years, besides in 14 to 16 years, Soumya Gupta, Aakriti Sharma and Mahi Sharma secured top three medals and Anu Devi, Sakshi Sharma and Renu Devi bagged top three medals respectively in 16 to 18 years.
In boys category, Divyesh Sharma, Navjot Singh and Manik Kumar won top three medals in 8 to 10 years, Anubhav Abrol, Shah Zahib and Rohit Verma clinched first three medals in 10 to 12 year, Siddarth Abrol, Vanshu Verma and Jameel Rashid secured top three medals respectively in 12 to 14 years, Surinder Rajput, Devank Sharma and Raghuvansh Gupta won top three medals in 14 to 16 years and Sourav Verma, Himanshu Verma and Shivang Sharma clinched top three medals in 16 to 18 years respectively.
Earlier, Vinod Kumar Bhatia secretary general of the Association welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and gave a brief account of the activities of the Association. The championship was officiated by Anil Gupta, Dayal Ram, Sanjeev Kumar, Mukesh Sharma, Sonia Sharma, Sabita Sharma and Mansi Sharma.
