JAMMU, May 15: Jammu district dominated the 3rd J&K UT Sport Climbing Championship which concluded at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, here today.
Pratham Padha of Muthi and Shilpa Charak, an international climber of Govt College of Women, Parade, Jammu  won the coveted Men’s and Women’s title respectively and Sahil Kumar of Shining Star Academy, Muthi and Sukriti Kumari of GHS Muthi clinched the Boys and Girls titles respectively.
In the remaining four categories, all the titles and most of the 2nd and 3rd positions were won by new faces. While Rutba Jan of Pulwama and Rudransh Manhas of St. Xavier Sr. Secondary School Barnai became the new champions in the mini girls and mini boys category, while Atika Bhagat of Shining Star Academy and Yuvraj Kumar of GHS Muthi emerged as the new champions in the sub junior girls and boys categories respectively.
Highlight of the competition was no doubt the superb performance of diminutive Rutba Jan of Pulwama in the mini girl’s category who despite running fever topped the wall in an outstanding exhibition of power.
In women, Shilpa Charak (1st), Samiksha Manhas (2nd) and Vishali Sharma (3rd), while in men category, Pratham Padha (1st) Aamir Khan (2nd) and Wajid Ahmad (3rd), in junior boys, Sahil Kumar (1st), Kashish Bharti (2nd) and Gourav Bhagat (3rd), in junior girls, Sukriti Kumari (1st), Namrita Rajput (2nd ) and Rinki Kumari (3rd), in sub junior boys, Yuvraj Kumar (1st), Aradhya Manhas (2nd) and  Mir Sibgatullah (3rd), in sub junior girls, Atika Bhagat (1st), Kritika Devi (2nd) and Hafsa (3rd), in mini girls, Rutba Jan (1st), Sonakshi Singh (2nd) and  Anaya Malhotra (3rd) and in mini boys, Rudransh Manhas (1st), Sohit Verma (2nd) and Himanshu Manhas (3rd).
More than 200 climbers from various districts of J&K participated in the championship.At the concluding function, Rahul Sharma, chairman, Sprawling Buds ICSE School was the chief guest along with Sumit Khajuria, vice president of Mountaineering Association of J&K and they distributed trophies and medals among winners.
The championship was conducted by the Mountaineering Association of J&K under the overall supervision of Ram Khajuria, senior vice president of the Association and sponsored by J&K Sports Council.
