3rd Police Martyrs Cricket Tournament begins today

JAMMU Mar 13: 3rd Police Martyrs Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu will begin at MA Stadium, here from tomorrow.
The Tournament is being played with a twin purpose of paying homage to the Martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the nation and to channelizing the energy of the youth in right direction through the medium of sports.
24 teams drawn from across the State are participating in this Tournament.
The matches will be played at the three venues, namely MA Stadium Jammu; Mandal Cricket ground of Mandal Panchayat and KC Sports Club.
The slogan of the Tournament is ‘Play for Peace with J&K Police’.
The participating teams included K C Sports Club, Eleven Star, Samar Sports Club, Simula Eleven, Jammu Jymkhana, Rainawari Cricket Club Srinagar, Satwari Cantt, Young Star, Rehari Cricket Club, Batindi Cricket Club, Christian Sports Organisation XI, Y C Club Jammu, Sai Cricket Club, Youth Cricket Club Bhaderwah, Akhnoor Cricket Club, Arin Club Bhaderwah, JKP Cricket Eleven, Bhawani Club Katra, KFC Rajouri, Danishbad Club Rajouri, Patel Cricket Club, N C C Jammu, Reasi Cricket Club and Glamorous Club Poonch.
The inaugural matches of the tournament will be played between Jammu Gymkhana and Young Sports Club, Simula Eleven and Satwari Cantt at M A Stadium Jammu, while the matches between Eleven Star and Samar Club and Rainawari Club Srinagar and Rehari Club will be played at Mandaal Cricket ground at 9 am and 12 noon respectively. Rajesh Kumar, IGP Jammu will be the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony, who will declare the 3rd Martyrs Cricket Twenty-20 tournament open, while Shakeel Beig DIG Jammu will also accompany him during the opening ceremony.
The tournament will be played on knockout basis, colour uniforms will be provided to the participating teams and the winner team will be awarded with Rs 25000 and runners-up team will be awarded with Rs 15000 alongwith the trophies.
The tournament will be organized under the overall supervision of the Rajesh Kumar, IGP Jammu while the other organizing committee members included Ashok Sharma, SP SO to IGP; Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer; Rajinder Singh, DySP Dar Jammu; Inspector Arun Jamwal; Inspector Satvinder Singh; Inspector Vishal Sharma; Inspector J V Singh; SI Inderjeet Singh and Manu Sharma.
The technical Panel includes Rajesh Dhar (convener), Sudhir Singh, Harbinder Singh, J D Singh, Saleem-Ul-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Shashi Paul, Manu Sharma, Arun, Nitu, Sandeep and Yogesh Sharma.
