39 trekking enthusiasts of RMPS leave for Dharamshala

JAMMU, June 6: Chairman of Shiksha Niketan Group of Schools, Jammu, Rameshwar Mengi today flagged off the 3rd group comprising 39 students including 17 girls of RM Public Schools, Chowadi, Jammu for the Dharamshala Himalayan Programme being organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K in the Dauladhars of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
Two teachers of the school, Vipin Kumar and Disha Sethi also accompanied the group led by Abhimanyu Sherpa, a former All India Sport Climbing champion and Sakshi Magotra, a trained mountaineer and IMF certified Adventure escort. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Rita Mengi, Trustee, Ravinder Kour, Principal, Arti Rajput, Vishal Sir and staff of the school and parents of the students.
Meanwhile, the 2nd group of trekkers of St. Xavier Convent Senior Secondary School, Barnai Which reached Daharamshala yesterday was enjoying the soft trek today to Gallu temple and Dharamkot, popularly called mini Israel.
It may be mentioned here that Tawi Trekkers J&K has been organizing Himalayan Trekking Programmes in Dalhousie -Chamba, Kullu-Manali and Dharamshalla areas of Himachal Pradesh since 1994. Over the years these programmes have emerged as the most popular activity of the club for students during summer vacations in which over 10000 boys and girls have participated so far.
“The purpose of these programme is to take the students away from the heat and dust and also hustle and bustle of city life and bring them close to nature. The next group of trekkers of Shangrilla Public School, Sarwal, Jammu will leave for the programme on June nine, president of the Club, Ram Khajuria said.
