JAMMU, May 26: Manali-Mcleodganj Himalayan Trekking Programme organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K, commenced today with 37 students of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar leaving for Manali to participate in the prestigious adventure activity.
The group is being led by Puneet Sharma and Divyansh Khajuria, senior members of Tawi Trekkers. Four teachers of the school including Arjun Singh Jamwal, Shuvam Deep Singh, Jitender Sethi and Arjun Chauhan also accompanied the group.
Sonam Sidharth, Joint Secretary of Tawi Trekkers J&K, who is already stationed at Manali is the Director of the Programme.
During the 3-days sojourn in Manali trekkers will trek to the enchanting Jogni waterfall, the Manali View point besides a visit to the hot water sulphur springs at Vashisht, famous Hadimba temple, The Tibetan Refugee Camp, Eco-Park and Mountaineering and Allied Institute.
However, the trekkers will have the most thrilling experience of rafting in the Beas river and wonderful experience of staying in luxury tents with sleeping bags.
In the second phase of this memorable venture, the participants will have a night stay at Chamunda Devi wherefrom they will visit Mcleodganj, the seat of Dalai Lama, Bhagshunag, Waterfall, Tapovan, picturesque Dharamshala stadium besides Nagini Devi enroute their journey to Jammu.
Earlier, the group was flagged off by Rameshwar Mengi, Principal of the school in the presence of Ram Khajuria, Senior vice president of Tawi Trekkers J&K, staff of the school and parents of the students.
