JAMMU, May 31: Over 321 faculty members and students from different departments of Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) cleared online examination and received professional certifications from IIT Bombay under the Spoken Tutorial project of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The online test and certification programme was conducted under the auspices of the IIT Bombay, Super Resource Center established at MIET, Jammu recently. MIET is the only technical institution in the region to have been recognized as the IIT Super Resource Center by IIT Bombay.
Ashok Sharma, Head, PG Department of Computer Applications at MIET, who is the coordinator for the Super Resource Center, reported that 57 students of Electronics and Communication and Electrical Engineering and 15 faculty members cleared the SciLab (open-source simulation and numeric computing platform for scientific and engineering applications) certification test, while 28 students from Information Technology Engineering and 23 from MCA cleared the JAVA programming language certification test.
Additionally, 165 students from Computer Science, MCA and IT cleared the C and C++ Programming certification exams and 33 faculty members cleared the Latex (a document formatting language for high-quality scientific and technical typesetting) certification exam. It is envisaged that over 500 students from MIET and other institutions shall be trained, skilled and certified in leading technologies from IIT Bombay under the Super Resource Center at MIET in the next one year.
Prof Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET described the setting up of the Super Resource Center as a key initiative in skilling the students in real-world technological domains. Director Academics, Prof SK Sharma, hoped that a large percentage of the students shall make use of this unique facility at MIET.
