JAMMU, Dec 4: Director Youth Services and Sports, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed reviewed the arrangements for 62nd National School Games in the discipline of Football Under-19 Boys while chairing a meeting of the Officers and Officials of the Department at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
The meeting reviewed security arrangements, traffic management plan, supply of drinking water, facilities of power, mobile toilets and parking besides transportation and refreshment arrangements for participants.
On the occasion, the Director YS&S asked the concerned to ensure availability of Physiotherapist and ambulance with first aid facilities. He also stressed for utilizing services of Media for wide coverage of the event besides installation of hoardings at different prominent public places.
Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad asked the concerned officers to show highest degree of hospitality as Jammu & Kashmir is traditionally known for it. He also directed them to work with coordination so that no loophole shall remain unplugged in serving the guests.
Sheikh Fayaz directed the conveners of different committees to look after all the arrangements made for comfortable stay of the visiting contingents.
He said that as many as 700 guests representing various States are participating in the National level event, while there would be eight to 10 thousand spectators to witness the event on the inaugural function.
While giving the details of the participating teams he stated that 30 teams drawn from various States/ Union Territories of the Country will be taking part in this football extravaganza to be organized from December 6 to December 10, 2016 at different venues including MA Stadium, GGM Science College, University of Jammu and Sainik Public School, Sainik Colony, Jammu.
The Director said that for the convenience of visiting State teams, a control room has been established at the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, MA Stadium, Jammu, where the match fixtures will be issued by the Technical Committee of School Games Federation of India (SGFI), Adding that the boarding and lodging centres have been established at Youth Hostel Nagrota, Jammu and Sarswati / Vaishnavi Dham, Railway Station, Jammu.
He said for smooth and successful conduct of the Championship, the Direcorate has framed various committees which include Reception Committee, Ceremony Committee, Boarding and Lodging, Transport, Medical, Liaison, Publicity and Technical Committees.
He said that the Department is expecting good results from the State team as the team has been put to intensive coaching under the supervision of qualified coaches.
“Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh has very kindly consented to be the chief guest on the opening ceremony, while Minister of State for Transport and Youth Services and Sports, Sunil Kumar Sharma will be guest of honour. The opening ceremony will be held at 11.30 am at MA Stadium tomorrow,” Director Sports added.
Besides others Joint Director Kashmir, Joint Director Jammu, Deputy Director Central, all the District Youth Services and Sports Officers of the Department, Senior officers of YSS, Conveners and Members of different committees constituted for the successful conduct of the mega National Event were also present in the meeting.
