24th UT level Taekwondo C’ship commences

JAMMU, Mar 27: 24th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships, organised by J&K Taekwondo Association, commenced at J&K Sports Council Indoor Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar, here today.
Many senior coaches and athletes are taking part in this championship along with around 500 players from all the districts of J&K, while the competition is taking place over the fully electronic sensor scoring system.
This championship is the only of its kind, where players secure a chance to have the international level of exposure during the play. The playoff ceremony was observed by the players, officials and parents as well. The first day witnessed a massive combative skill show between the sub-junior and junior athlete’s and the cadet and senior will showcase tomorrow.
The championships started with the demonstration of Taekwondo skills by young boys and girls of different institutions.
The chief guest of the opening ceremony was Rouf Ahmad, Under Secretary to the Government and president Civil Secretariat Employees Union, while Gurinder Rakwal vice president DJTA and Vikas Abrol were among the guests of honour.
Dr SM Bali is heading the charge of organizing committee along with Master Atul Pangotra as Tournament Director and Anuj Sharma as organizing secretary.
On the opening day, Arav Sharma, Muhammad Ayaan Adil, Siraaj Gupta, Soham Sharma, Aryan Singh Chib, Suryaansh Victor Sharma, Zubana Bhat, Mahnoor Naseer, Saksham Singh, Palak Bhadouria, Sanna Mehraj Sofi, Sumit Kumar, Laxmi Salaria, Firdous Mushtaq Lone, Musadiq Qayoom, Patras Masih, Janvi, Taneesha Devi, Ziya Shaheen, Adeeba Qureshi, Shrawan Kotwal, Rutba Majid, Aman Saleem Chandai, Hreedyansh, Kushagra Sharma, Palk Kumar and Satjeet Kumar won Gold medals in different categories.
The silver medals were secured by Prabnoor Singh, Ashish Dogra, Naksh Sharma, Rudhra Pratap Singh, Mohsin Muzaffar, Amanik Singh, Ritika Jamwal, Sahiba Manzoor, Samrat Singh, Mannat Mustaq, Sonalika Choudhary, Muzamil Ahmed Bhat, Rabia Bilal, Irslaan Bashir, Anoosh Salam, Armandeep Kour, Iqbal Ahmed, Mohammad Usman Bhat, Aryaman Bansotra, Yashika Sharma and Saqib Hussain Sofi in different weight categories, besides bronze medals were won by Rudra Khajuria, Aaradik Samotra, Munazir Showkat, Amit Kumar, Mohammed Abdullah Wani, Vishakha Wazir, Suneha Mehra, Malika Salim, Samarth Dogra, Ehsan Ul Haq, Aaprajita Bhasain, Aditi Sharma, Huraira Aftab, Shahid Bashir Bhat, Asim Mustaq, Zyva Owais, Sonali, Praval Jamwal, Rezwan Manzoor, Waseem Ahmed Malla, Parul Kotwal, Bhavya Rajput, Satyam Salaria, Gorav Singh, Mohammad Azhar Margay, Usman Lateef, Farhan Ahmed Dar, Swaid Ahmed Sofi, Suhail Abbas, Zulfqar Ali and Aadish Choudhary.
