SRINAGAR, Mar 8: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today distributed trophies and medals among the winners and runner up teams of 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24 (Men & Women), during the closing ceremony of the event held here at SKICC.
DGP, R.R Swain; ADGP, Vijay Kumar; senior officers of the J&K Police, participants from various teams from across the country and large number of people were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Advisor Bhatnagar remarked that this reputable tournament marks a dawn in Jammu and Kashmir as it will significantly contribute in promoting sports and lewd to overall development of youth. He added that J&K is becoming a powerhouse of sports and a preferred destination for organising national and international sports events.
He highlighted that the UT has made significant development in establishing world-class sports infrastructure from Panchayat level.
The Advisor on the occasion commended J&K Police for organising this grand event.
Speaking on the occasion, DGP, J&K, R.R Swain said that JKP is committed to popularise the water sports in Jammu and Kashmir as the region is rich in having water bodies both calm and fast, which makes it good destination for holding these kind of events.
The Advisor on the occasion also distributed trophies and medals among the winners and participants of the championship.
In Kayaking Women, Canoeing Women and Rowing Women events, SSB emerged victorious. In Kayaking Men’s event, SSB emerged victorious, Canoeing Men’s event, BSF won winners trophy while as in Rowing Men’s event, Uttar Pradesh Police took winners trophy.
Pertinently, a total of 30 teams (20 Men & 10 Women) from around the country, comprising about 500 players, participated in the event.
