JAMMU, Dec 16: J&K State Karate Championship, 2015 Sub Junior, Open, Cadet, Junior and Senior was declared open at M A Stadium, here today.
The Championship is being organized by Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu & Kashmir (AKAJK), recognized by J&K State Sports Council affiliated to Karate Association of India (KAI) recognized by Govt. of India (Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports) member World Karate Federation (WKF) & Asian Karate Do Federation (AKF) recognized by International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Over 300 participants from different districts viz Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua, Sunderbani, Reasi, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag are participating in the Championship.
It is pertinent to mention that the gold medalists of the senior events of the state will get the opportunity to participate in KAI Senior National Championship.
Javaid Mustafa Mir, Minister for Revenue was the chief guest on the Opening Ceremony, while Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary, J&K State Sports Council presided over the function. Anil Gupta, chairman, AKAJK was also present on the occasion.
Ambedkar Gupta, president, AKAJK presented welcome address, which was followed by a welcome song presented by Song & Drama Division, Ministry of Information Broadcasting Govt of India Jammu Centre.
Advocate Vishal Sharma, Organizing Secretary of the Championship presented the vote of thanks.
