1st IDPS Checkmate Chess Tourney commences

JAMMU, Nov 18: First IDPS Checkmate and Crown Trust Invitational Round Robin FIDE Rated Chess Tournament commenced at IDPS Checkmate Sunjwan, here in association with Jammu District Chess Association on the pattern of European style, today.
First time ever in J&K, this type of initiative is taken by IDPS Checkmate to promote Chess in the UT and to provide highest level platform to budding local players.
Shubham Shukla of Punjab and Ram Parkash of Indian Railways are leading after three rounds of the tournament.
KS Jamwal, president JKRA Jammu and Managing Directors IDPS, Suminder Singh and Swarn Singh along with the Principal, Randeep Wazir blessed the players for the said event.
President All J&K Chess Association, Atul Kumar Gupta assured the players that such type of European style events will be held regularly in J&K and thanked the IDPS School Management for continuous support. The event is being sponsored by Electricfield.
Bindu Pathania is chief arbiter for this event, while international arbiter Dharmendra Kumar paired all the matches as per FIDE laws of Chess. School Manager, Madhu Abrol also graced the event.
