JAMMU, Mar 15: 13th Jammu District Athletics Championship, organised by J&K Athletics Association under the auspices of J&K Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association of various categories including under-14, 16, 18, 20 and open for both boys and girls, concluded here today.
Ashutosh Sharma, president J&K Olympic Association was the chief guest of valedictory function, whereas Suneel Mahajan president J&K Athletics Association (JKAA), Ravinder Singh senior vice president JKAA, Sharat Chander Singh, secretary general, SS Gill president Jammu District Athletics Association, Ajay Sharma, treasurer, Sarbjeet Singh, Ravi Salgotra and Surinder Singh were among the guests who graced the event.
Earlier, Vinod Bhatia secretary general of District Athletics Association welcomed the chief guest and distinguished dignitaries. The championship was conducted under the supervision expert panel comprising Ramesh Sharma (Retd SAI coach), Gurcharan Singh, Rajesh Sharma, Parveen Kumar and Aryaaveer Singh.
In 60 mtrs boys category, Aditya Chib, Vivek Mandi and Raghav Sudan remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, whereas in 600 mtrs, Vivek Mandi, Akshay Kumar and Tanish Lalotra bagged top three positions and in 60 mtrs girls, Gurder Kour, Sneha and Manya Sharma secured top three positions besides in under-16 (100 mtrs boys), Nitin Bavoria, Tanvir Singh and Sharaj Ahmed won top three positions respectively, while in 100 mtrs girls, Sidhani Singh, Chetana Kumari and Sneha stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In 300 mtrs boys, top three positions were bagged by Ranjot Singh, Mohit Kumar and Sharaj Ahmed, whereas in 300 mtrs girls, Chetana Kumari remained first and in 1000 mtrs boys, top three position were secured by Sulakshya Singh, Tanjot Singh and Sameer Kumar respectively besides in under-18 (100 mtrs boys), Akhil Singh, Udhay Sharma and Karthik clinched top three positions while in 100 mtrs girls, Tannu stood first and in 200 mtrs boys, top three places were clinched by Arjun Kumar, Udhay Sharma and Ishtaiq Hussain respectively.
In 200 mtrs girls, Tannu clinched first position, whereas in 400 mtrs boys, Amit Manhas, Nikhil Khajuria and Shubam Sharma stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in 800 mtrs boys, Raj Kumar, Abhay Jangral and Zaber Hussain clinched top three positions respectively besides in 1500 mtrs boys, first three places were won by Gourav Choudhary, Bhubnesh Sharma and Jeevan Kumar respectively and in 3000 mtrs, Akhil, Shubam and Rohit stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in 5000 mtrs boys, Aman Sharma, Deepak Kumar and Avinash Kumar secured top three positions.
In under-20 (100 mtrs boys), Shawn, Amarjeet Singh and Sarjeet Singh bagged top three places respectively, whereas in 100 mtrs girls, Pragatee, Vanshika and Madhu clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and in 200 mtrs boys, Sumit, Arya and Sidhant Singh stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively besides in 200 girls, top three positions were clinched by Rama Sharma, Pragatee and Madhu and in 400 mtrs boys, Sumit Choudhary, Avinash Kumar and Sahil Choudhary stood 1st , 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In 800 mtrs boys, Harsh Kumar, Sahil Choudhary and Vijay Kumar bagged top three positions respectively, whereas in 1500 mtrs, Gurmeet Kumar, Harsh Kumar and Shahid Choudhary bagged top three positions, and in 5000 mtrs, top three places were secured by Sagar, Anil Singh Choudhary and Sourav Singh respectively and in mens open (100 mtrs), top three positions were bagged by Randeep Singh, Abhi Choudhary and Sukhdev Singh besides in women open (100 mtrs), Rabia Akhtar, Avineet Kour and Tabun stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd while in men open (200 mtrs), top three positions were secured by Ifitkar, Sukhvinder Singh and Abhi Choudhary respectively.
In 400 mtrs, Sahil Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar and Rohit Singh remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, whereas in 800 mtrs, top three position were bagged by Rahul Prajapati, Sahil Sharma and Sahil Kumar respectively and in 1500 mtrs, Rahul Prajapati, Kushal Kumar and Vinod Sharma bagged top three places and in open women (1500 mtrs), Priya Sharma stood first besides in open men (5000 mtrs), Sunil Choudhary, Kushal Kumar and Rohit Singh clinched top three positions respectively.
