LEH, Jan 9: LAHDC Executive Councillor for Education Stanzin Konchok inaugurated the 13th CEC Ice Hockey Tournament at Karzoo Ice Hockey Rink, here today.
The tournament was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Ladakh Winter Sports Club (LWSC).
Seven Women Ice Hockey team representing different clubs and 12 men’s Ice Hockey clubs are participating in the tournament.
In the inaugural match, team LSRC Red defeated LSRC Blue by five goals to three in a close contest.
Speaking on the occasion, EC said that Union Territory status has provided a launching pad for the young sportspersons to blossom at the National scene.
He was hopeful that Union Minister for Sports Kiran Rijiju will fulfil his promise of recognising Ice Hockey at All India Level.
Zonal Physical Education Officer Abid Ali and LWSC President Noney Wangchuk also spoke on the occasion and lavished praise on the organisers.

Friendship tournament will start from January 18, 2020.
He also informed that International Standard Ice Hockey Rink will be ready within a week to host the upcoming tournament at new Ice Hockey Rink.
