12th Samba District Fencing C’ship concludes

SAMBA, Dec 30: The 12th District Fencing Championship, organized by District Association, concluded at VVM Higher Secondary School, Nonath Ghagwal, here today.
The championship was organized under the aegis of Adhoc Committee of J&K Amateur Fencing Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council wherein Suresh Kumar, BDC Chairman, Ghagwal was the chief guest who presented medals to the winners. Vijay Targotra, BDC Chairman, Gopal Dass Sharma, BDC Chairman, Rakesh Sharma, SHO Ghagwal and Shashi Sharma, Principal VVM Higher Secondary School, Nonath, were among the guests of honour.
More than 80 fencers (Boys & Girls) from different Clubs, Centers and Institutions participated under the age group of under-14, 17, 19 and senior age groups. The bouts were officiated by Akash Sharma, Vivek Sharma, Abishek Pangotra and Rahul Sharma.
In under-14 foil girls, Nandani Devi and Aakshi Devi won gold and silver, while 1st and 2nd bronze medals were secured by Nandini Devi and Bumika Sharma respectively, while in under-14 epee, gold and silver were won by Ridhima Jasrotia and Ridhima Groach and bronze medals were secured by Anmol Jasrotia and Riya Sharma and in under-14 foil boys, Ayush Sambyal and Aniket Khajuria clinched top two medals, while bronze were clinched by Keshav Sharma and Sujal Singh, besides in under-14 sabre boys, top two medals were secured by Bhanu Sharma and Manik Sharma, whereas Parun Changotra and Hanish Sharma secured by bronze medals.
In under-19 epee boys, gold and silver clinched by Vivek Shoetra and Vanish Bhagat, while 1st and 2nd bronze medals were won by Akshit Sharma and Vishal Lalotra respectively, whereas in under-17 epee boys, gold and silver were clinched by Akshat Verma and Sunil Singh, while 1st and 2nd bronze were clinched by Sharawan Singh and Gourav Singh respectively, besides in under-17 sabre boys, top two medals were bagged by Dharuv Chandel and Pancham Sharma, while 1st and 2nd bronze won by Surya Partap Singh and Deepak Choudhary respectively, besides in under-19 epee girls, gold and silver were bagged by Mehul Rajput and Anisha Verma, while 1st and 2nd bronze medals were won by Nitika Sharma and Krishna Sharma.
In open foil boys, gold and silver medals were clinched by Mangal Singh and Dikshant Sharma, while 1st and 2nd bronze medals were clinched by Manjeet Singh and Ritish Sharma respectively.
