JAMMU, Dec 26: 12th Jammu District Indian Style Wrestling Championship, organized by Jammu District Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council concluded at Peer Bawa Meer Shah Akhara Domana, here today.
The Championship in six Weight Categories 55Kg, 61Kg, 67Kg, 75Kgm, 84Kg, and 97 Kg, was held under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma as the chief guest on the occasion. He presented medals, certificates and track suits to the wrestlers, while chairman J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Prem Choudhary presided over the function. Retired SP P R Sharma, retired D.F.O Inderjeet Khajuria and retired Tehsildar Bansi Lal Tidyal were the guests of honour.
Director Competition, NIS wrestling coach Mulk Raj Sharma conducted the proceedings, while the vote of thanks presented by general secretary of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Bansi Lal Tidyal.
The bouts were officiated by Prem Kumar, Kulbir Singh, Darshan Lal, Mohd Fareed and Raj Hussian. President of Jammu District Indian Style Wrestling Association Inderjeet Khajuria and treasurer J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association P.R. Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, in 55 kg, Rustam-Chaudhary of Kairi won gold, Yogesh-Saini of Sarore bagged silver and Arshad Ali of Kanger claimed bronze, while in 61kg, Mustaq Ahmed of Kairi, Parveen Singh of Sarore and Bachan Singh of Domana clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In 67kg, Balwinder Singh of Halqa, Surjan Singh of Patta and Ajay Singh of Patta
Won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while the gold, silver and bronze medals in 75 kg went to Mohd. Ashraf of Kairi, Narinder Singh of RS Pura and Sunil Rakwal of Thather respectively.
In 84 kg, Sakeel Khan of Domana won gold, while silver medal went to Darshan Lal of Patniyal and in 97 kg Marf Hussian of Kairi and Ishant Shama of Domana won gold and silver medals respectively.
The overall Championshipwent to Baba Meer Shah Akhara Domana.
