JAMMU, Aug 22: Players continued to vie for the top honours in Inter Zone District Level Competitions, organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports in various districts.
JAMMU: Inter Zone District Level Competitions in the discipline of Cricket, Basketball and Hockey for Under-19 Boys gets underway here at GGM Science College Jammu, MA Stadium and KK Haku Stadium, respectively.
In Cricket, RS Pura and Miran Sahib zones defeated Bhalwal and Marh zones by 5 wickets. Earlier, after winning the toss Bhalwal and Marh zones elected to bat first and scored 102 runs by losing all wickets in 14.5 overs. The main scorers were Sumit (20 runs) and Ayush (18 runs). In reply, RS Pura and Miran Sahib zones easily chased the target in 12.5 overs. For their side, Gundeep Singh scored 21 runs, Vishal made 20 runs while Inderpal Singh scored 17 runs. In 2nd match, Jammu Zone thrashed Gandhingar Zone. Earlier, batting first Gandhinagar scored a total of 90 in 15 overs by losing 8 wickets, which was chased by Jammu zone after a close contest.
In Basketball, Jodhamal Public School (JPS) defeated Banyan International by 23-09, SOS beat APS Jammu Cantt by 11-09, APS Kaluchak trounced KC Public school by 21-05 and GHSS Gandhi Nagar lost to MIER by 03-20. In Quarter Final, APS Kaluchak beat MIER by 20-12 and SOS defeated SRML by 26-2.1
In Hockey, APS Kaluchak defeated APS Miran Sahib by 1-0. The lone goal for APS Kaluchak was made by Vikram Singh. In 2nd match, New National HSS Tali Morh overpowered GHSS Gole Gujral by 1-0. Pamvir Singh of New National HSS Tali Morh made the lone goal for his team.
KATHUA: Inter Zone District Level Tournaments in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Cricket for U-19 Boys and Girls entered its third consecutive day here at Sports Stadium Kathua.
In Kho-Kho, Zone Hiranagar emerged overall champion by registering its victory over Zone Billawar in final match of Girls Kho-Kho by 10 points. Earlier, Zone Hiranagar trounced zone Kathua by 07 points. In Kabaddi, Bani Zone won the winners’ trophy by defeating Kathua by 16 points in final match. Earlier, Zone Kathua trounced Zone Billawar by 10 points.
In Cricket Under-19 Boys, Zone Hiranagar thrashed Zone Bani by 64 runs. While batting first Hiranagar gave the target of 76 runs to Bani in stipulated 10 overs. Divyam of Hiranagar scored 18 runs in 14 balls with the help of 3 boundaries. Bani could not chase the target and collapsed at just 13 runs. Anil and Ashwani of Hiranagar scalped 3 and 2 wickets, respectively.
In 2nd match, Billawar crushed Bahsoli by 4 wickets. Bahsoli gave the target of 53 runs to Billawar in 10 overs but while chasing Billawar achieved the target in 6th over and won the match. In Tennis Ball Cricket Under-19 Boys, the boys of Hiranagar Zone defeated Zone Bahsoli by 8 wickets.
SAMBA: Inter Zone District Level Tournament for U-19 Boys in disciplines of Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Kabaddi and Wrestling began held today at Samba.
In Kho-Kho, Samba Zone won champion’s trophy by defeating Ghagwal Zone by 08 points in final. In Volleyball, Ramgarh Zone won the title by thrashing Samba Zone by 2-0 sets. In Kabbadi, Purmandal Zone emerged champion, which crushed Samba by 09 points. In Wrestling, Sandeep Singh (Samba Zone), Shakeel Ahmed (Samba Zone), Wasim Akram (Purmandal Zone), Shabbir Ahmed (Vijaypur Zone) and Rohit Kumar (Vijaypur Zone) registered win in different categories.
UDHAMPUR: Inter Zone District Level Tournament for Under-19 Girls in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Volleyball and Kho-Kho held today at sports Stadium, Udhampur.
In Volleyball, HSS Ramnagar defeated APS Udhampur with two straight sets 25-20 and 25-16. In Kabaddi, HSS Garhi thrashed HSS Udhampur with 5 points while in Kho-Kho, HSS Garhi beat HSS Udhampur by 2 points.
