PK’s sports extravaganza at Jagti

JAMMU, July 4: Team work helped Young Strikers Cricket Club (YSCC) Jagti to script a thrilling 1-wicket win over Lions Cricket Club Bohri in the Cricket event while Zyeshta Devi Football Club thrashed Jagti United FC by seven goals to three (7-3) in the Football event of the ongoing PK’s annual sports extravaganza at Jagti near here today.
The event is being organised by the elitist organisation of Kashmiri Pandits-Panun Kashmir with an objective to help youth get rid of fear, tension and stress caused by the ongoing global Corona virus pandemic, besides helping them showcase their sporting skill and not to derail from the mainstream.
The sporting gala is an amalgam of four separate events namely Cricket, Football, Badminton and Volleyball besides Athletics.
In Cricket, riding on a magnificent all-round show by Ishan Sehgal Young Strikers Cricket Club registered a thrilling 1-wicket victory over Lions Cricket Club.
Batting first, Young Strikers Cricket Club scored a good total of 156 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Rahul top scored with 55 runs, while Shivam Koul contributed 46 runs to the total. Rakshit and Akash Reshi contributed 14 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For Young Strikers Cricket Club, Ishan Sehgal was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 4 important wickets, while Vishal Kanth took 2 wickets. Varun and Sahil claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, YSCC surpassed the target in an exciting manner by losing 9 wickets, thus won the match by 1 wicket. Sidharth, Vishal, Sahil, Anmol and Ishan scored 28, 25, 20, 18 and 16 runs respectively. For Lions Cricket Club, Rahul bagged 3 wickets, while Kartik and Sanchit took 2 wickets each. Skipper Hritik claimed 1 wicket.
In Football, Zyeshta Devi Football Club defeated Jagti United FC in an easy contest by seven goals to three (7-3). For Zyeshta Devi FC, Shivam Tickoo displayed superb soccer skills, scoring 3 magnificent goals, while Shivam Koul, Parth, Hrithik and Kunal Koul netted one goal each. For Jagti United FC, Piyush, Dheeraj and Vishal scored 1 goal each. Yellow card was shown to Kushal and Dheeraj of Jagti United FC, while Parth of Zyeshta Devi FC was also shown the yellow card.
The Football match was officiated by Praduman, Abhay Bhat, Vishal and Rahul, while Cricket match was officiated by Vijay Raina, Sanjay Raina and Deepak, under the supervision of Susheel Pandita and Pyare Lal Ji.
