Youths participate in Marathon Run, pledge to stay away from drugs

UDHAMPUR, 14 July: Continuing its campaign against drugs, Chief Patron Dogra Kranti Dal (NGO), former MLA & NPP president, Balwant Singh Mankotia organised 8th Marathon Run against drug abuse which commenced from Chakk Padanoo Kalta, here today.
Around 300 youth participated in this Marathon which was flagged off in wee hours.
Expressing deep concern over increasing drugs at Udhampur on such fast rate, Mankotia said, “To make Udhampur drug free is our prime goal and we are working at the ground level in this regard by organising such marathons and other allied sports activities.
Mankotia also appreciated the efforts of Police Administration as they had recovered 8 kg heroin at Udhampur couple of days back.
Mankotia while addressing youth expressed his anxiety over the spread of “Chitta” named drug at such a fast rate during the past three years due to which many of the youngsters have lost their lives.
Later, Mankotia also felicitated first three winners with a cash prize.
The winner of the 1st prize, Ajay Kumar was presented Rs 3100 as a cash prize, while the winner of the 2nd prize, Ashwani Sharma was awarded Rs 2100 as cash prize and the winner of 3rd prize Shubam Sharma received Rs 1100 as cash prize. Also Rs 500 was given to the winners from 4th to 10th rank.
