JAMMU, Mar 18: Youngster Shubam Khajuria scored masterful 61 runs as J&K lost to Services by 5 wickets in their opening match of the Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament at Lahli in Haryana today.
According to the reports reaching here, batting first on a bowling friendly track, Jammu and Kashmir scored a respectable total of 108 runs in their stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Shubam played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 61 runs off 59 balls, studded with 5 fours and 2 massive sixes, while Parvez Rasool who is knocking at the Indian team contributed 15 off 17 balls with the help of 2 boundaries. None of the other batsmen could manage to cross the double figure mark. Shubam was simply brilliant and played shots with fluidity and grace, who along with Parvez made a partnership of 40 runs for the fifth wicket after an initial collapse. For Services, Abhishek and IA Khan took 2 wickets each, while S Nazir claimed one.
In reply, Services managed to reach the required target in 19.2 overs in a close contest. N Verma remained not out at 37 runs off 44 balls, while Rajat Paliwal and S Swain contributed brisk 22 runs each off 15 and 10 balls respectively. Speedster Ramdayal Punia and left-arm spinner Raman Dutta scalped 2 wickets each, while Parvez Rasool claimed one. Parvez was most economical among the lot, giving away just 12 runs in his 4 overs, while Ramdayal and Dutta gave away 29 and 22 runs in their 4 overs respectively.
