JAMMU, Nov 18: Young Heroes Football Club thrashed Vijay Football Club in the finals by two goals to zero (2-0) and lifted the title trophy of Senior Division League Football Tournament (2010-11) organised by Jammu Kashmir Football Association (JKFA), Jammu Wing, at Government Gandhi Memorial Football ground, here today.
During the match, Sanjeev of Young Heroes netted the first goal of the match in the 7th minute of the first half, which its opponent tried best to equalize, but failed.
In the 32nd minute of the first half, Rahul Sharma of Young Heroes pelted another goal and brought the opponent team under extreme pressure.
In the second half, players of Vijay Club strived hard to claim the title, but failed, as the players of Young Heroes who were looking aggressive and passionate did not gave any room to their opponent team players to thrash a goal. At last, Young Heroes registered 2-0 goals victory over Vijay Football Club.
The match was officiated by Vijay Kumar, Saudagar Mattoo, Harneel Singh and Moon Stiphen.
On the valedictory function, K Rajendra, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) was the chief guest, who distributed uniforms, footballs and kits among the winner and runner-up teams in presence of Johny Williams, DIG, Surinder Singh Bunty, Resident Secretary, Jammu Kashmir Football Association (JKFA), Jammu Wing, police officials, members of association, local populace and sports lovers.
While speaking, K Rajendra, threw light on the importance of sports and impressed upon the gathering to participate in sports activities to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
It is to mention that, Vijay Football Club played this final match after lodging a protest that three players of Young Heroes Football Club are not registered. The protest committee of JKFA, Jammu wing, will look into the matter and solve the issue in week time.
Meanwhile, to decide the second and third positions in the Senior Division League Football Tournament (2011-12), the match will be played on November 20 between Vijay Football Club and Churchill Brothers. Earlier, NGR claimed the title trophy on point basis.
