SAMBA, Oct 26: Young Athletic Club (YAC) in association with Veteran Athletic Association organized an Athletic Meet at Vijaypur, here today.
The events including cross country, 100 meters sprint, long jump and discuss throw in the age groups of Under-14 and Under-18 boys and girls were held during the Meet.
Congress leader, Dr Satpal was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Prof Ashok Bhagat and Pralh Dayal were the guests of honour.
The events were officiated by Gourav, Shakeel, Faeyad, Raj Kumar, Mast Ram, Janak Raj, Sewa Ram and Rajni Kumari under the overall supervision of athletic coach, J&K State Sports Council and overall incharge of the Meet, Shamus Malik, while Rakesh Kumar was the organizing secretary of the event.
Earlier, in cross country Under-14 boys, Rudra Pratap Singh, Pank Singh and Anil Kumar bagged gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in Under-14 girls, Kritarthi Kotwal, Damni Sharma and Sakshi claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively. In Under-18 boys, Davinder Singh, Dilip Chand and Maneer Hussain claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In senior boys, Sukhvinder Singh, Tajinder Singh and Talvinder Singh bagged gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in senior girls, Jaspreet Kour, RTavinder Kour and Khushi claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In 100 meters sprint Under-14 boys, Rithik, Amarjeet and Rudra Pratap clinched gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in Under-14 girls, Kritharthi Kotwal, Sakshi Verma and Ammara Batool won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In 100 meters Under-18 boys, Karan Handoo bagged gold, Jogesh Kumar won silver and Naresh Sharma claimed bronze, while 100 meters senior boys, Heera Singh, Roshan Lal and Sandeep Singh won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In long jump Under-14 boys, Naresh Sharma, Rithik Slathia and Amarjeet Singh bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in Under-14 girls Sneha Sharma won gold. In long jump Under-18 boys, Sanjay Kumar, Mohd Arif and Mukesh Kumar bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in long jump senior boys, Sanjay Kumar bagged gold, Anil Bharti won silver and Heera Singh claimed bronze.
Meanwhile, in discus Under-18 boys, Rasheed Ahmed, Haridhis and Vishwa Pratap won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in discus throw senior boys, Raj Kumar won gold, Heera Singh bagged silver, while Randeep Singh and Hardeep Singh shared bronze.
