KATRA, May 8: Wrestler Surjit Singh of J&K Police lifted 3rd Kudeen (Arnas) Dangal title by defeating wrestler Maankaran of Doom Charri Akhara in Punjab in a very tough bout that lasted for 23 minutes at Village Kudeen in Reasi district.
Winner Surjit Singh was awarded with cash prize of Rs 18000 along with ‘Mata ki Chunari’ and Turban, while runner-up wrestler Maankaran was given cash prize of Rs. 13,000.
The second main bout was played between wrestler Yoov Raj of Raja Madlik Akhara V/s Chouta Munner of Nagrota. This bout was played for 21 minutes and ended in a draw. Both the wrestlers were jointly given a cash prize of Rs. 20,000.
Senior BJP leader and former Reasi District president Kuldeep Raj Dubey (Mangu Shah) was the chief guest on the occasion, while Shiv Kumar Sharma, president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association presided over the function.
DDC Mamber Abdul Rashid, BDC Chairman Mohd. Rafiq, Sarpanch Kewal Singh and BJP Mandal Pradhan Arnas Sukhdev Singh, were the guests of honour. Prominent persons including former Sarpanch Rafiq Mugal, Advocate Dheeraj Thakur, Hazi Abdul Rashid (Retired Sub Inspector), Prem Singh (Panch) and Deepak Wazir of Katra were also present.
The event was organized by Kudeen Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Pahalwan Puran Singh (President) of the Dangal Committee.
3rd bout was won by Gulshan of Domana by defeating Rikki of Soanjana and both were awarded with Rs. 9,000 and 6,000 respectively.
In other bouts: Karan of Kawas beat Ansu of Chatha, Pawan of Reasi defeated Naresh of Narkote, Gurdev of Devigarh trounced Zakher of Udhampur, Tej Singh of Panasa defeated Bir Singh of J&K Police, Pritam Singh of Talwara beat Rakesh of Akhnoor, Billa of Jammu trounced Pankaj of Kanthi, Vishal of Jammu defeated Mandeep Singh of Gaddi Gabbar, Gollu of Chatha beat Satnam of Doom Charri, besides bout played between Subash Chander of Reasi and German of Doom Charri ended in draw.
Proceedings of the dangal were conducted by Anil Kumar and Safadar Ali.
