JAMMU, July 27: The Cycling Association of Jammu and Kashmir organized the Asmita Cycling League – Jammu Edition at MA Stadium, Jammu, witnessing participation of over 40 Women Cyclists from across the region. The event aimed at promoting women empowerment through sports under the initiatives of the Ministry of Youth Services and Sports, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Cycling Federation of India (CFI).
The race was flagged off by Vijay Saraf, President of the Wushu Association of J&K. Chief Sports Officer of J&K Sports Council, Aneesha Nabi, was the chief guest, while international gymnast medalist Tej Pal Kour was the guest of honour.
Winners in the 19 & Above category included Dr. Ritu Ahal (1st), Anu Talwar (2nd) and Sonia Singh (3rd), while the 17-18 age category saw Bhoomi Dogra (1st), Bhavya Kotwal (2nd) and Maheen Thakur (3rd).
The event was supervised by Dr. Vikesh Kumar, President of the Commissioner Panel (PCP), CFI and conducted under UCI rules. Cycling Association Chairman Ravinder Singh, President Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn and other office bearers played a key role in organizing the event. The Association expressed gratitude to all supporters for making the event a grand success.
