Week-long Wushu Training Camp gets underway at Leh

LEH, Dec 28: A week-long Wushu Training Camp to infuse self defense techniques among women/girls of Leh began at Moravian Mission School, Auditorium Hall, Karzoo, here today.
Being organized by District Police Leh under its Civic Action Programme in collaboration with Leh District Wushu Association, around 50 school girls will be trained in Wushu Art of self defense. The week-long training starts with the lighting of traditional candle by Spalzes Angmo, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Leh who was chief guest on the occasion.
Lauding the efforts of District Police Leh, Spalzes Angmo CJM, Leh emphasized upon the young women of Ladakh especially girl students to learn self defense skills like Wushu which is need of the hour in today’s world.
She said that there are many laws and Acts under Indian Constitution to safeguard the interests and rights of women but Law alone can’t protect women from crimes.
Speaking about the increasing rate of crime in Ladakh, Ms Angmo urged upon the people to report every possible crime including eve teasing and molestation to police which will help a lot in reducing crime from Ladakh region.
The programme was attended by officers of District Police Leh headed by Add. SP, Leh T. Gylpo.
Earlier, DySP Leh, Peer Zahoor presented welcome address.
Tsering Angmo, General Secretary Leh Wushu Association who herself is a gold medalist at international level in Wushu presented vote of thanks.
