WB, CRPF among six teams script wins; AP humiliates RPF

JAMMU, Dec 9: Formidable team of West Bengal was among other five teams which registered emphatic victories on day-3 of the ongoing 8-day long 61st All India Police Hockey Championship, being held at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here.
In the penultimate match played today, West Bengal drubbed Jharkhand by two goals to one (2-1) in a well contested match. Sanjeev Tirki pelted a superb goal in the 3rd minute of the match to give West Bengal an early lead. Pramod Kumar Singh increased the lead by netting second goal via penalty kick in 21st minute of the match to help his team lead by two goals in the first half of the match. Manmaih Sanga was the goal scorer for Jharkhand, who scored it in 44th minute of the match, which only helped his team to reduce the losing margin by one goal.
Earlier, in the first match of the day, Tamil Nadu defeated ITBP by two goals to one (2-1), with David Arockaraj and Anandharaj scoring goals for Tamil Nadu, while Snajeev Kumar was the goal scorer for ITBP.
Manipur trounced Madhya Pradesh by a margin of two goals in an easy contest by four goals to two (4-2). Birjit scored 2 goals for Manipur, while Priyo Kumar and Tarun scored one goal each. Rayees Ahmed scored 2 good goals for Madhya Pradesh.
In another match, Andhra Pradesh inflicted a crushing defeat on Railway Protection Force (RPF) by a huge margin of 20 goals (21-1). Sandeep Raju and Krishna Kishore scored 10 and 9 goals respectively, while N Kishore and Suresh netted one goal each.
Uttrakhand outplayed Odisha by six goals to two (6-2) in an easy contest in another match played today. For Uttrakhand, skipper Pankaj Kumar netted 2 goals, while Prakash Singh, Prakash Chandra, Amit Asuual and Manoj Singh scored one goal each. Sushil Kujur and Walter Kullu were the goal scorers for Odisha.
In last match of the day, CRPF thrashed Chandigarh by a huge margin of 11 goals in a one-sided contest by (11-0). Rajinder Singh scored 3 goals, Prashant Tirkey and Simon Tirkey netted 2 goals each, while Rajesh Kumar, Roshan Singh and  Mukesh Kumar scored one goal each.
The matches were officiated by a panel of referees including Virender Kumar, Vijay Kishore, Jagjeet Singh Reen, Imtiazuddin, VP Sharma, Tabrez Sher, Anil Kumar, Naved Zia, Mohd Amir and Sanjay Bhatia.
Today’s matches were witnessed by a series of dignitaries including ADGP K Rajendra Kumar, DIGs T Phunchok, Johnny Williams and JP Singh, SSPs Vijay Singh Sambyal, Sham Sunder, Mir Mohd and TD Saini.
Prominent among others present were Rumal Singh, general secretary Hockey J&K, LS Panwar, observer All India Police Sports Control Board, Ashutosh Verma, Tournament Director and Commandant Ranjit Kanwar.
