JAMMU, Oct 28: To vie for the top honours, the peddlers showed promise and gave their best to beat their opponents in tough contests on day-2 of the ongoing 33rd Jammu District Table Tennis Championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Table Tennis Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in Under-12 Cadet Girls Quarterfinals, Mishti beat Snigdha by (11-8,11-4), Karen trounced Sonia by (11-9,12-10), Divyanshi drubbed Shubhina (12-10, 14-12), Hargun got the better of Gouri (11-8,8-11,11-9), Niharika prevailed over Presha (11-2,11-3) and Ragini outplayed Trisha (11-8,11-6)
In Under-14 Sub Junior Girls 1st round, Iknoor outclassed Pritha Gupta by (11-4,11-4), Gouri Gupta defeated Niharika by (11-9,11-9), Vidhushi prevailed over Suhasini by (11-6, 11-8), Ragini got the better of Divyanshi by (11-9,11-6), Sehaj beat Mehak by (11-6,12-10) and Mishti outwitted Snigdha by (11-9,11-8).
The junior boys and girls matches were underway when the last reports came in.
The matches were officiated by Sandeep Khadotra and Meenu Rajesh, Asad and Aditya.
Prominent among others who witnessed the matches were Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Anil Dutta, Narinder Singh, Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Shorya Sharma, Sheetal Gandotra, Sanjeev Gupta and Anuj Verma.
