REASI, Oct 26: Volleyball tournament, organised by the police in memory of police martyrs at Pouni Play Ground, concluded, here today.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Rashmir Wazir was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony.
About five teams of Pouni and its adjoining areas participated in the event. The final match of the tournament was won by Pouni team. The winner and runner-up teams were awarded with suitable prizes by chief guest of the event.
Addl SP, Surjeet Kumar, DySP Hqrs, Iftikhar Ahmed, SHO Pouni, Jeet Singh and BDC Chairman as well as prominent citizens of Pouni were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Rashmi Wazir highlighted the bravery, courage and valour of the martyrs and paid rich tribute to the martyred police personnel during the tournament.
She said that our martyrs without caring for their lives fought till their last breath for peace of J&K and gave supreme sacrifices of their lives while protecting and safeguarding the nation.
The District police will organize more sports events in near future so that the youth can take the benefit of it to channelize their energy in positive direction and stay away from the drug menace.
