JAMMU, Dec 3: Viraj Kala Kendra, Gandhi Nagar, organized On-the-Spot Painting Competition today in connection with the week long celebrations of Birth Anniversary of Late Vidya Ratan Khajuria, an eminent sculptor, artist and writer of J&K.
Children of various schools participated in this competition.
G M Balwan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu was the chief guest on this occasion, while Shahid Mohmad Dar, SDM Jammu South was the guest of honour.
S C Rekhi, general secretary, Retired Officers’ Forum was the Special guest and I D Soni, State Commissioner, J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides presided over the function.
The function started with the welcome of the guests by Raj Bharti, president, Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu, who highlighted the activities and contribution of the Kendra.
Rita Jatindra, Ex-Chairperson, Viraj Kala Kendra said that Vidya Ratan has contributed a lot for the cause of art in the State and the Country as well.
G M Balwan, Jang S Verman, S C Rekhi and I D Soni also spoke on the occasion.
Among students the speakers included Muskan Kaur, Parneet Kaur,Shivang Gupta and Anomolik of Shiksha Niketan School.

Sec. School; 3rd; Parveen; Viraj Bal Bhawan,Khanpur; 14-16 yrs: 1st: Himanshu Dogra:Siksha Niketan Hr. Sec. School; 2nd: Sonam: KV 2, Jammu; 3rd: NainaCharak: Siksha Niketan Hr. Sec. School, Jammu.
The jury members included Rohit Verma, Reecha Gupta and Ankush Bhushan.
The programme was conducted by Susham, general secretary of Viraj Kala Kendra.
