JAMMU, Mar 3: Outplaying Ashoka House convincingly in the summit clash, Vivekananda House lifted the title trophy of the Inter-House T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Physical Director, GGM Science College at Hostel ground, here.
Jahangir Mir, Director General Department of Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest and Dr Ajeet Angral, Principal, GGM Science College, Jammu was the guest of honour.
The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
Vivekananda House won the toss and elected to bat first to score 165 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Rajesh Chauhan was the top scorer with 22 runs off 18 balls and took one wicket also, while Anuj contributed 21 runs off 18 balls.
In reply, Ashoka House made 140 runs in the allotted 20 overs, thus lost the match by a margin of 25 runs. Dheeraj made 25 runs off 29 balls, while Abhishek Bhau scored 26 runs. Kamal Singh took 3 wickets which helped the Vivekananda House to win the match by 25 runs.
Rajesh Chauhan was declared as man of the match, while Vivek Singh Rathore was adjudged as the best batsman of the tournament and Kamal Singh was declared best bowler. The man of the series award was given to Krishan Kant who made 94 runs and took 3 important wickets.
The match was organized by Arpan and Vipan as umpires.
Speaking on the occasion, Jahangir Mir appreciated the efforts of the College in organizing such mega event and said that the Department of Youth Services and Sports will help the institution in organizing more such activities under the supervision of Physical Director of the College.
Prof. Ajeet Angral, Principal of the College advised the players to take maximum benefit from various sports activities being organized by the College and asked the girl students for their participation in different games.
Principal had a special word of appreciation for the members of the organizing committee which included Prof Ashok Kumar, Prof Rajinder Singh, Prof, Neeraj Sharma, Prof Mohd Sadiq, Prof Dinesh Jasrotia and Prof Kuldeep Raj.
