JAMMU, June 29: General Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vikram Malhotra inaugurated Night Cricket Tournament at DBN ground, Mubarak Mandi, here today.
In this tournament, which is being organized by Aamir Khan, a sports enthusiast, in coordination with “Swabhiman Charitable Trust”, about 16 teams from different areas of Jammu are taking part.
In his address, Vikram Malhotra, who was the chief guest on the occasion, stressed upon the youth, especially young lot of the society, to choose any kind of sports activity as per their choice and make it an important part of their daily life.
Expressing his serious concern over growing drugs menace in Jammu, he exhorted upon youth to not to fall prey to this abuse and also save others from getting involved in it in any manner.
“Involvement in sports activities can bring succour to our youth, which not only can provide them career opportunities but it will also keep them away from drugs menace and other social evils prevalent in the society”, Malhotra asserted.
According to Aamir Khan, Organizer of the tournament, this cricket series, which commenced on June 27, will culminate on July 25, with the final match of the tournament. He informed that Rs 10,000 is the winning prize of the Tournament. Aamir Khan also disclosed that Rs 2,000 has been fixed as entry fee for every participating cricket team.
Among others present were Ashwani Gandotra, Vinay Kumar, Ajay Khanna, Aakash Nayyar, Sandeep Gandotra, Sunny, Sohail Khan, Suresh, Sujjat Khan, Ram Lal, Gulshan, etc.
