JAMMU, Apr 17: Wrestler Abhi Nayak of UP lifted 40th annual “Salora Dangal Title 2024” by defeating wrestler Pamma of Dera Baba Nanak of Punjab here today.
The wrestlers were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 41,000 while runner-up wrestler Pamma was given a cash prize of Rs 30,000. In the 1st malli bout fought between wrestlers Kirti of Ludhiana (Punjab) and Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of J&K Police of Jammu. The bout ended in a draw that lasted for 20 minutes, both the wrestlers were jointly given Rs 70,000.
In the second malli bout wrestler Karan of Navy of Khanna of Punjab beat wrestler Rashid of Domana Akhara Jammu. The winner wrestler Karan was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 31,000 while runner-up wrestler Rashid was given a cash prize of Rs 20,000.
Third malli was won by Chhota Jassa of Ludhiana who defeated Mam Hussain of Domel. The winner wrestler Chhota Jassa was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 while the runner-up wrestler was given a cash prize of Rs 15,000. The 4th bout was won by Sunny of Punjab who defeated Surjit Singh of J&K Police of Reasi. The winner Sunny was given Rs 15,000 while Surjit got Rs 10,000.
There were 54 bouts played and organizers spent around Rs 6, 70,000 on the day-long event. Kisan Morcha BJP J&K UT Prabhari and senior leader Nand Kishore Sharma was the chief guest while Shiv Kumar Sharma, former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council and President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association presided over the function.
Contractor Social Activist and prominent wrestling promoter Karnail Singh, Sub Inspector Tikari, Sahil Chib, Retired SP Prithvi Raj Sharma and Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) were the guests of honour.
Dangal was organized by Salora Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Rajinder Kumar alias Pithi, Arun Sharma alias Punny and contractor Tara Chand.
Members of Salora dangal committee who helped for smooth conduct of historic famous and Vishal dangal included Rajinder Kumar Ramotra (Pithi), Arun Sharma (Punny), Ashok Kumar, Nek Ram, Abudal Karim, Sham Lal, Ahmed Din, Shamsher Singh (Sonu), Sandeep Sharma, Ajeeta Thappa, Bullo, Bindu Seth and Baju. Shiv Kumar Sharma lauded the participating wrestlers from Punjab, UP, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and J&K-UT and congratulated the winners for their excellent performance, hoping they will be a source of inspiration for scores of budding wrestlers and Jammu and its peripheries.
