JAMMU, June 3: Promising Unnati Jalal bagged the under-15 girls’ title after they trounced equally good Krishika Mahajan in straight sets of 21-16, 21-18 in the final played on the concluding day of the State Open Badminton Championship which was organised by Young’s Badminton Club under the aegis of Jammu City and District Badminton Association at MA Stadium, here today.
The final witnessed by the chief guest, former Minister, Sat Sharma and guest of honour, Corporater JMC, Sanjay Baru. Both these special guests also gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up of the championship.
The chief guest congratulated the winners and appreciated the organisers for providing a platform to young boys and girls to perform and excel.
Among others present were Dr OD Sharma (Chairman, J&K Badminton Association), Balbir Jamwal (general secretary), Romesh Sharma (general secretary, Young’s Badminton Club), Som Raj Gupta, Vinay Saraf, Sukhdev Singh, V.K. Sharma (Incharge SAI STC Jammu), Satish Gupta (Manager M. A. Stadium), Satpal Sharma (SAI Badminton coach and organising secretary of the championship) Vikram Saini (SAI Badminton coach), Pawanjit Singh, Vasu Bhagat, Preeti Gupta, Aman Badyal, Sahil Kumar, Aakash Kumar.
