JAMMU, Dec 18: Union Cricket Club and Strikers XI got better of their rivals to advance in the ongoing 2nd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
In the first match, Union CC defeated Star XI by a big margin of 49 runs. Batting first, Union Club scored a modest total of 127 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Manoj top scored with 39 runs, while Anukul and Ripu contributed 22 and 19 runs to the total respectively. For Star XI, Ashu and Bunny took 3 wickets each, while Mohit claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, Star XI bundled out for a paltry total of 68 runs in 14.4 overs. Vinayak was the top scorer with 27 runs, while Mohit chipped in with 10 runs. K V took 3 wickets, while Rahul and Anukul bagged 2 wickets each for Union Cricket Club. Anukul was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, Strikers XI drubbed City XI by 65 runs. Batting first, Strikers XI scored a decent total of 166 runs in stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Jimmy scored magnificent 53 runs, while Sachin Sudan and Amit Rathi contributed 35 and 30 runs to the total respectively. Raman took 2 wickets for City XI, while Elias and Samad claimed one wicket each.
City Club, in reply, managed to score 101 runs in 18.4 overs. Samad top scored with 32 runs, while Altaf and Zaheer contributed 15 and 9 runs respectively. For Strikers XI, Ankan took 3 wickets, while Sanjay and Surinder bagged 2 wickets each. Sachin and Sahil also claimed one wicket each. Jimmy was declared man of the match.
