JAMMU, Oct 25: Outplaying their rivals convincingly in their respective semifinals, cueists Umar Islam and Ansh Chopra sealed berth in the finals and will lock horns in the title clash of the ongoing State Sub Junior Snooker Championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
In the first semifinal, Umar Islam of Srinagar got the better of Ananya Mahajan of Jammu in a close contest by 3-2. The first frame was won by Umar but Ananya came back strongly by winning back to back frames leading by 2-1. Umar fought back again and won both the frames and made it 3-2 in his favour.
In another semi-final, last year’s State Sub Junior title holder, Ansh Chopra reached the finals again by beating his opponent Prathmesh Kumar by 3-0 in an easy contest.
Earlier, Ananya Mahajan defeated Akshit Sharma 2-0, Sourav got the better of Himanshu Sharma 2-0, Prathmesh Kumar prevailed over Sankalap 2-1, Jatin Narang beat Manvir Anand 2-1, Umar Islam drubbed Samarth Amla 2-0, Ansh Chopra trounced Sourav 2-0, Umar Islam outplayed Jatin Narang 2-0, Prathmesh Kumar defeated his rival 2-0 and Ananya Mahajan outclassed Himanshu Jaral by 2-0.
