JAMMU, May 31: A brilliant bowling display by Sampark Gupta and blistering half-century by Sahil Lotra helped JKCA Reds team to enter the finals of the Under-14 Boys Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, electing to bat first, MGCA batsmen failed to negotiate the disciplined bowling attack of JKCA Reds bowlers and fell at regular intervals to score a low total of 104 runs in 28 overs. Surya Singh was the top scorer with unbeaten 42 runs, which included 3 boundaries, while Praveen contributed power-packed 18-ball 25 runs with the help of 3 boundaries. Vibhas Sharma also contributed sedate 13 runs to the total. Sampark Gupta was the chief wrecker for JKCA Reds, who scalped 5 wickets by conceding just 11 runs in his 5 overs, while Tushar Anthral claimed 2 wickets in his 4 overs. Dheeraj and Anshuman also picked one wicket each.
JKCA Reds, in reply chased the target easily in 12 overs by losing only one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Sahil Lotra scored a magnificent half-century (56 runs) in 38 balls with the help of well-timed 9 boundaries, sending the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt by smashing them all around the park. Sahil Mahotra and Vansh Sharma also chipped in 13 and 6 runs respectively. For MGCA, Vibhas claimed the lone wicket to fell.
Now, JKCA Reds will face the winner of the second semifinal between JKCA Blue and JK Public School.
The match was officiated by Sandeep Singh and Paras Sharma as umpires, while Sanjeev maintained the scorebook.
