Tripura 226/5 against J&K as bad light stops play

JAMMU, Dec 31: Fog continued to play spoilsport as only 62 overs were bowled in the entire day’s play in the Ranji Trophy Group C match between hosts Jammu and Kashmir and Tripura at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
Resuming their innings from an overnight score of 60/2, Tripura opener Subhrajit Roy hit a fine half-century to guide his team to 226 for five in their first innings at close on the third day of a fog-hit Ranji Trophy match.
Subhrajit made 86 off 177 deliveries and struck 11 fours during his fine knock.
Left-handed middle-order batsman Abbas Ali was unbeaten on 50 along with his skipper Ajay Ratra, who was batting on 35 at stumps on the penultimate day. Tripura added 166 runs today in 62 overs.
For J&K, off-spinner Parvez Rasool returned with decent figures of 3/42 in his 20 overs, while speedster Ramdayal Punia and wrist-spinner Manik Gupta claimed one wicket each.
It is pertinent to mention here that the inconsequential Group C match has been severely hit by bad weather as only 23 overs were bowled in the first two days, with opening day’s play completely washed out due to damp-outfield and fog.
Brief Scores:
Tripura: 226 for five in 85 overs (Subhrajit Roy 86, Abbas Ali 50; Parvez Rasool 3/42).
