JAMMU, Sept 30: To commemorate Golden jubilee celebrations of DAH Division, a trekking expedition from Phoo to Chumar was flagged off earlier on August 30, 2015.
The trekking team after successful completion of 38 days expedition returned back to Plalampur.
The expedition was flagged in by Major General Amrit Pal Singh, General Officer Commanding of DAH Division, today.
The Expedition team of two Officers, four Junior Commissioned Officers and 24 other ranks was led by Major Dinesh Singh and covered a distance of approximately 180 kilometers.
The Expedition encompassed negotiation of treacherous terrain with heights varying from 15000 feet to 18000 feet which also included glaciated terrain of 3.5 kilometers.
The expedition members also interacted with veterans of the area en-route.
The aim of the Expedition was to foster a spirit of adventure and also to motivate youth by projecting good image of Indian Army as well as highlight importance of conservation of ecological environment of the hills and mountains.
