JAMMU, Mar 23: Star studded Simula Cricket Club registered a thrilling 2-run win over Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC), Srinagar and entered into the semifinals of the ongoing 2nd Christmas Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized jointly by Range Police Headquarters Jammu and Christian Sports Organization J&K at KC Sports Club ground, here.
Earlier, batting first, Simula Club scored a decent total of 169 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Anshuman top scored with 59 runs off 43 balls, while Dhruv Mahajan contributed power-packed unbeaten 30 runs off just16 balls. Atul Sharma also chipped in with 23 runs. Deepak Singh Manhas scalped 3 wickets, while Kuldeep, Satish and Vimarsh Kaw shared one wicket each for RCC Srinagar.
In reply, RCC Srinagar fell short of just 2 runs, scoring 167 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus lost the match by 2 runs. Nitin Mehra top scored with 68 runs in 32 balls, while Vimarsh Kaw and Satish contributed 22 and 21 runs to the total respectively. Sameer Khajuria, Shashi Kumar and Hardeep Singh took 2 wickets each, Dhruv Mahajan claimed one wicket. Anshuman of Simula Club was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, JKP beat Sai Cricket Club by 24 runs.
Batting first, JKP scored 137 runs in the allotted 15 overs. Naresh Kumar (27) and Rajesh Gill (23) were the main scorers, while Amit and Shahbaz contributed 16 runs each. Sheeshu, Mintu and Sunny took one wicket each for Sai Club.
In reply, Sai Cricket Club managed to score113 runs in the allotted 15 overs for the loss of 5 wickets, thus lost the match by 24 runs. Vinay top scored with unbeaten 43 runs, while Raju and Suman contributed 15 runs to the total respectively. For JKP, Naresh and Vishal took 2 wickets, while Shahbaz took one. Naresh was declared man of the match.
