NEW DELHI, May 19:
Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss his soon-to-be-released biopic — ‘Sachin, a Billion Dreams’.
“I was in Delhi so, I thought it would be nice to brief him about the movie. I told him what the movie is about and he was quite happy and gave me a positive feedback,” Tendulkar said after the meeting.
“He told me that the film will not only inspire the next generation but through my highs and lows it will tell everyone that challenges are everywhere but that does not mean you surrender… You overcome those challenges and he said it applies to everyone in life,” he added.
Directed by James Erskine, the biographical film will release on May 26.
“He said ‘my best wishes are with you’. I was really happy to have met him and then he wrote something special for me. He wrote that ‘jo Khele, wahi khile’ and that is a strong message especially when you are a sportsperson. That means a lot to me,” Tendulkar said.
The 44-year-old former batsman was accompanied by his wife Anjali, among others, during the meeting.
The Prime Minister also tweeted a picture of the interaction with the celebrated cricketer.
“Had a very good meeting with @sachin_rt. His life journey & accomplishments make every Indian proud & inspire 1.25 billion people,” he tweeted from his personal handle. (PTI)
