Teachers’ role significant in transforming students into meaningful citizens: Col Mahan

KATHUA, Feb 27: DDC Chairman Kathua, Col Mahan Singh said that the role of teachers is significant in transforming students into meaningful citizens who can act as nation builders.
He was addressing a gathering during the award presentation ceremony of Government Higher Secondary School Mahanpur organized by Lala Kanhaiya Shah (LAKSH) Education Trust.
The chief guest on the occasion, Col Mahan said that teachers are the mentors of the young lot and deserve respect of the highest order as their contribution towards the country is immense and no other profession is as noble as teaching.
The Karthaiya Parivar has set up this trust. The first Chairman, late Ram Chand Gupta and another founder trustee Dr UO Gupta were educational luminaries. They inspired the youth through teaching, writing and motivation. While L Mela Ram Vaid (a senior trustee) was a renowned Ayurvedic Physician and social figure who contributed a lot for the welfare of the society.
The Principal of the Government School Mahanpur is the convener and the Education Department is being associated for a pivotal role all along in the education promotional activities of the trust.
Later, Col Mahan Singh felicitated teachers and meritorious students to encourage others to play the vital role in imparting quality education to children of the area.
Prominent among those who were present include Krishan Gupta, Chairman Lala Kanhaiya Lal Trust, Ashok Gupta, General Secretary, Arun Gupta, Senior Trustee, Sohan Lal Gupta, Sarpanch Mahanpur, Hari Singh, Sarpanch Sher Singh, Darshan Choudhary, Sulekha Kumari, Deep Kumar Sharma, Rajesh Vaid, Shub Vaid and Pardeep Vaid.
