JAMMU, Oct 24: The series of first of its kind Quiz competitions in Mathematics, Science and Social Science in migrant institutions concluded with an impressive, colourful and well attended valedictory function after the last competition of the series at Government Higher Secondary School Camp, Roopnagar, here.
The competitions were organised by the Directorate of School Education (DSE), Migrant Cell Jammu in collaboration with the host schools.
Today, Social Science Quiz competition was conducted in a befitting manner by a panel of experts (Quiz Masters) namely Pinul Kaul, Ravinder Pandita and Roop Krishan, while Lecturer Physics, RL Bhat coordinated the event.
The competition was held under the overall supervision of Pushpa Bhat, Principal GHSS Camp Roopnagar, who in her welcome address spoke on the significance of holding such events.
Joint Director, Directorate of School Education Migrant Cell Jammu, HR Pakhroo was the chief guest on the occasion, while Principals Santosh Ji, Hira Lal Pandita, Rattan Lal Bhat and Bharat Bhushan were the guests of honour.
Earlier, Sanjay Kumar Bhat (KAS) also graced the occasion with his presence, while BJP leader, Virender Kuchru and SO Migrants (DSE), Roop Krishan were the special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pakhroo threw light on the importance of organising such events and assured of holding Quiz, Sports and other allied competitions in future also to provide ample opportunity to the migrant students for showcasing their skill and talent.
While lavishing praise on the teachers in preparing the students for such competitions, Mr Pakhroo compared them with the morning breeze.
He said morning breeze helps the flowers to blossom and the good teachers are the pillars of the nation, who help the children to sparkle.
Earlier, in Social Science Quiz, the first position was bagged by GHSS Camp Jagti, while the second place was claimed by GHSS Camp Roopnagar and the third place went to GHSS Camp Purkhoo.
The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners on the occasion.
The winners of Mathematics Quiz and Science Quiz competitions held earlier were also felicitated by the chief guest on the occasion.
The chief guest also honoured famous anchors Kulshi Pandita, Lecturer English and Rajesh Dhar, Lecturer (PE), besides BL Sharma and Omesh Raina for being instrumental in making the event a great success.
