JAMMU, Apr 10: The Business School (TBS) and Mathematics Department outplayed their rivals to move into the next round of the Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, being organized by the University of Jammu at Varsity ground, here.
In the first match, TBS defeated Department of Zoology by 7 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, Zoology Department scored 92 runs in the stipulated 15 overs losing 3 wickets in the process. Sourav and Moin contributed 30 and 24 runs to the total respectively. Abhimanyu took one wicket for TBS Department.
In reply, TBS scored the required runs in 14.3 overs. Ritesh and Vishav contributedwith 33 and 16 runs respectively. Sourav took 2 wickets, while Moin claimed one wicket for TBS Department.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Vijay Dogra, Manu Khajuria and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
In another match, Mathematics Department defeated English Department by 85 runs in a one-sided contest. Mathematics Department, while batting first scored a mammoth total of 180 runs in stipulated 20 overs. Sultan top scord with 55 runs, while Sumeet contributed 43 runs to the total. Arun and Rahul chipped in with 19 and 10 runs respectively. Atul and Manohar took one wicket each for English Department.
In reply, English Department was bundled out for 95 runs and lose the match by a big margin of 85 runs. Devraj and Mahroof contributed 24 and 19 runs to the total respectively. Arjun took 2 wickets for Mathematics Department, while Manoj, Kamaldeep, Kuldeep and Sumeet claimed one wicket each.
