JAMMU, Nov 27: Tawi Trekkers J&K, one of the biggest trekking clubs in the country, organized a one day trek from Mahur Garh to Mansar.
The group of 9 trekkers was led by 76 years old advisor of the club Professor Lalit Magotra who is also President of Dogri Sanstha, Jammu and included Ram Khajuria (71), President of the Club, Vivek Chauhan (59), Principal of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu, Sanjiv Sharma (48), Sushil Singh (40), a senior trekker, Abhimanyu Sherpa, Joint Secretary of the club, Bhanu Partap Singh, Ashmika Thappa and Akshita Khanna.
Starting the 7 kilometer trek from Mahur Garh Fort, about 17 kilometers from Nud in Samba district, the trekkers enjoyed beautiful panoramic views of the nearby hills while ascending the well maintained trail. The forts of Dhergarh and Bhupnergarh also seemed quite near but were almost inaccessible for the trekkers as they were separated by deep and steep ravines. The trekkers were enchanted by the beauty of serene Mansar lake when it suddenly appeared before them on reaching the top point of the trek.
It is pertinent to mention here that this trek is a part of the exhaustive reconnaissance to be carried out by the club in the Purmandal, Mahur Garh, Bhupnergarh, Dhergarh, Mansar and Surinsar areas for making this area a winter hub of soft adventure activities like adventure camps/picnics and short heritage treks.
