JAMMU, Dec 23: Continuing its thrust to promote short treks for school students in the Mansar-Surinsar area during winter months Tawi Trekkers J&K organized 4th Adventure Picnic for 90 students and 6 teachers of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu.
Sonam Sidharth, Joint Secretary of Tawi Trekkers was over all in charge of the group who was very ably assisted by other trained mountaineers Shashi Kant, Rahul Khajuria, Sourav Deep Singh and teachers of the school.
The budding trekkers in the age group of 11 to 13 years were very excited and fully enjoyed their maiden 6km trek. They showed keen interest to take up longer treks in near future.
Since the purpose of the club to conduct these one day treks is also to promote lesser known beauty spots, historical and religious places of the Surinsar-Mansar area and bring them on the tourist map of J&K the club has planned to open up another trekking trail from Purmandal to Surinsar and vice verse for senior students and members.
