JAMMU, Feb 22: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din has stressed on expanding the ambit of activities of Scouts and Guides movement in the State.
Addressing a function to celebrate Thinking Day and World Brotherhood/ Sisterhood Day here today, the Minister said the day reminds us of the importance of communal harmony and brotherhood. He said the occasion invites us to ponder over our common challenges, shared history and mutual future. He asked the Scouts to play their role and try to bridge gaps between communities and groups.
Mr Taj praised the role of the movement which he said is devoted to mobilizing the creative energy of the youth for purposeful activities. He said youth are the torch bearers of the nation who have a lot of responsibilities in future to share.
The function was organized by J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guide Association and the theme of this year’s function was Millennium Development Goal. About 300 scouts and guide students from 35 schools took part in the celebrations.
President J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guide Association, Roma Wani threw light on the importance of the day and gave brief resume of the activities of the organization.
Wing Commander M M Joshi, G A Qureshi and other office bearers were present on the occasion.
