TA Army-157 scripts win in inaugural tie

JAMMU, Nov 24: TA Army-157 defeated Young Star Simbal Camp in the opening match of the 1st Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey Tournament, which got underway at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here today.
The Tournament is being held under the aegis of Hockey J&K.
Janak Raj Gupta, former Member Parliament was the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony, while Shubh Chander Verma, Ex-Corporator was the guest of honour.
Earlier, in the inaugural tie, TA Army-157 defeated Young Star Simbal Camp by eight goals to two (8-2) in an easy contest. Parvinder was the star performer for Army, who scored 4 goals in 28th, 51st, 53rd and 56th minutes respectively, while Darvinder, Lukhvinder, Vikram Singh and Nitin Dutta scored goals in 18th, 26th, 32nd and 36th minutes respectively. For Young Star Simbal Camp, Harminderpal Singh and Ramandeep Singh scored goals in 39th and 49th minutes respectively.
The matches were officiated by SP Singh, Iqbal Singh, JS Reen, Jagjeet Singh and GS Bakshi, while MS Reen is the technical director.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Club will face Sittu Club, while Ajit Club Gole Gujral will take on Lachipura Club Kathua at the same venue tomorrow.
