Swimming competition held

Srinagar, June 16: First ever swimming event in which more than 100 swimmers of different age groups across the Kashmir valley participated was held at Delhi Public School here today.
Participants seemed to enjoy swimming at the venue as they had to perform 10 rounds of the 25 meter to qualify for the next stage. However more than 40 participants were able to qualify including the two national swimmers Aijaz Ahmad Dar and and Amir Bin Ashraf.
Aijaz Ahmad was the best swimmer of the day as he finished 250 meters in just four minutes and one second.
The event was organized by “SIVO” an event management company under the name of “Dive Kashmir”.
The event was inaugurated by Mir Saifullah, Law Minister.
Speaking on this occasion he said that these types of events will be held further so that it can help one to choose spots as his/her carrier.
The final will be held at Dal Lake on June 23, where participants will have to swim around 1500 meters from Makai Point to Char Chanari to win this event.
