JAMMU, Dec 6: By winning qualifying rounds, ace tennis player of Jammu and Kashmir, Sumitpal Singh entered 2nd round in main draw of MSLTA-ITF Junior Tennis Championship at Pune today.
Sumitpal was 4th Seed in qualifying draw by virtue of which he got bye in the first round.
In the 2nd round, Sumitpal defeated Prasana Parvin Bagde by (6-1, 6-0) and the final round, he trounced Athrya Sharma in straight sets by (6-2, 6-4).
In the main draw, Sumitpal defeated Mert Aklays of Turkey by (6-4, 1-6, 6-4) in a three setter match.
In the doubles event, Sumitpal and Kabir Manrai of India got better of Alester Magalit of Hong Kong and Keonho Shin of Korea by (6-7, 6-4, 10-8).
He will face Parikshit Somani of India tomorrow.
