Statue of Rai Bahadur Jodhamal Kuthiala inaugurated

JAMMU, Mar 29: A statue of the legendary philanthropist Rai Bahadur Jodhamal Kuthiala (1883 – 1961) was inaugurated in the premises of Jodhamal Public School here today.
The unrevealing of the statue was done by Joginder Lal Kuthiala and Jatinder Lal Kuthiala (grandsons) and Susham Kuthiala (grand daughter-in-law of late Rai Bahadur. Other family members present on the occasion were Nandan Kuthiala, Arati Kuthiala and Stuti Kuthiala. On behalf of the School, Dr Deep Khare (Principal), BB Sharma (Administrative Officer) and B L Tickoo (Accounts Officer) were present.
Rai Bahadur Jodhamal Kuthiala was a great philanthropist of his era and over a span of 5 decades, donated and supported many charitable causes in J&K, undivided Punjab and princely HP States. Liberal scholarships to girl students were distributed by him in these areas annually. Some of these scholarships are still being given by his family members in J&K, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
Many Dharamshalas and Sarais were constructed and donated by him in hilly areas of Doda, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Himachal Pradesh and PoK.
A 400-bed Tuberculosis Sanitarium cum Hospital was built and donated by him in undivided Punjab. Scores of academic blocks for girl students were constructed and donated in many DAV and other society run schools in the above mentioned four States.
On this occasion, a medical camp was organized in association with Sure Diagnostic Specialized Lab by the team led by Dr Sumedha Mengi.
