State Wrestling Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Mar 22: J&K State Wrestling Championship organized by J&K Wrestling Association commenced today at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium.
The championship was declared open by Navin Aggarwal, Director General, Sports and Youth Services, in presence of Dushyant Sharma, ex-president, Wrestling Federation of India and general secretary, J&K Wrestling Association and other officials of the association including Ashutosh Sharma, General Secretary, J&K Olympics Association, Vijay Pahalwan, Ajay Vaid, Treasurer, Balkar Singh, Raju Shiv Mandir, Sukh Dev Singh, Sarwan Kumar and Mohd Sadiq.
In the championship, around 80 wrestlers from various districts of J&K are participating in different weight categories. The wrestlers from Police Department are also taking part in the championship.
In the preliminary rounds, Dalveer Singh of Reasi clashed with Zakir Hussain of district Doda, Rajan Kumar of Jammu fought with Din Mohd of Kathua, Sukhdev Singh of Jammu clashed with Rajesh Kumar of JKP, Tariq Ahmed of Srinagar clashed with Younis Ali of Jammu, Vevek Chander of Jammu clashed with Razak Ahmed of Jammu and Kasim Din of JKP clashed with Rahil Sharma of Jammu.
The matches were officiated by Mulkh Raj Sharma, Om Parkash, Deeraj Sharma, Sahil Sharma, Krishan Singh, Kulveer Singh and Prem Kumar.
